I checked off another project that I have been wanting to get to for a while! I have been working In my bedroom, and I finally got rid of my old bed!! So, when we took the bed apart I couldn't just throw all that good sturdy wood away. The back part of the footboard was the perfect size for a sign that I wanted to make for the kitchen. My hubby cut the part off that I wanted, and I started with the painting, and glazing.
I like It because It sort of separates the kitchen from the eat In area.
I stenciled It, and gave It a good sanding! Lots of mocha glaze, and yellow ochre acrylic paint. I like to use the ochre because It gives It an old aged look. You can find It at any craft store. It's made by americana.
Can't forget the back!!
Have a great day!!

What a fantastic idea. Wished I had thought of something like that when I got rid of our bed a few years ago.
How remarkably wonderful your sign is! Now that's repurposing, my friend.

That is great. Great way to reuse.
Love what you made. Next you will make a bench with the remainder of the bed. Maybe!!!!

I love it, great re-purpose:)
Love your new sign...what a great idea to use part of the old bed to make it! I use ochre paint a lot too...love how the color has an aged look to it.

How on earth do you keep coming up with the creative awesome ideas? I agree, it totally gives a separation to the room, but at the same time is open and doesn't block the view. I am in awe of your ability to create charming beautiful things, and as you know, have already copied at least one of them in my own home!
