I've been working on my living room mantle. I wanted to change the look to a more natural feel. I've been adding splashes of color to my living room Instead of all the white! I still do love white, but I needed a change. I've been adding things as I go along. I started with the pillows to add color, and then just went from there. I've been adding pieces that feel right to me. I took everything off the mantle, and started from scratch! Including the old ceiling tiles that I had above the fireplace. I do love the ceiling tiles, but they were a little boring!!
I found the pictures at pier1. They had the natural look I was going for. Simple, but colorful. I feel I can mix things up on the mantle with no problem. I didn't want to much clutter. I can't wait to add all my fall decor to this!! The border Is burlap, and the frame Is black tin. I think the lanterns create a balanced look.
I bought the lanterns at Home Goods. It was love at first sight. They have the old rusty look I love. I wanted to mix the look. Something old, something new.

Love how you decorated your mantle...so beautiful!! I'm going shopping with my sister tomorrow...thinking we will have to go to Pier 1 and Home Goods as they are right across the road from each other.
